Mr. Sammy Huh

DSC_4757Korean-American tenor Sammy Huh is an accomplished performer and teacher based in the Mid-Atlantic Region. As a performer, he has received praise for his “resonant and full” voice (DC Metro Theatre Arts) and “sincere and admirable simplicity” (Voce di Meche).

Mr. Huh has made solo appearances with renowned companies and venues across the eastern seaboard. Institutions include Opera Camerata of Washington, Maryland Opera Studio, Lincoln Center – Alice Tully Hall, Washington Opera Society, Juilliard Opera, Arts Club of Washington, Embassy of South Korea, Strathmore Mansion, Central Maryland Chorale, Smithsonian American Art Museum-Renwick Gallery, and the President’s Residence at University of Maryland. He is a graduate from some of the country’s preeminent young artist programs such as Chautauqua Opera Company, Aspen Opera Theatre Center, and Manhattan Summer Voice Festival.

He enjoys a diverse ensemble career as a professional tenor with the Washington National Opera and Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Other ensemble credit includes The Metropolitan Opera and Juilliard Opera’s co-production of Gluck’s Armide.

He has sung in masterclasses with Daniel Ferro, Malcolm Martineau, Mignon Dunn, Mark Padmore, and Anne Manson. He is the recipient of awards from the Enrico Caruso Memorial Scholarship, National Society of Arts and Letters, Young Singers Foundation and the Lucrezia Bori Grant.

Mr. Huh received his Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and Master of Music with the University of Maryland-Opera Studio. He serves on the voice faculty at University of Maryland – Baltimore County and Shepherd University.
