Ms. Alice Young

Aliceyoungphoto_000Alice Young, viola, received a Diploma of Viola Pedagogy  from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland and her Masters degree in viola performance from the Peabody Conservatory. Her teachers have included Miles Hoffman and Karen Tuttle. An active violist in the Baltimore area, she has been a core member of the Baltimore Opera Orchestra and Opera Viventi. Orchestra.  For over a decade Ms. Young performed with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. She has performed with the Bermuda Philharmonic, the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and the Annapolis Opera Orchestra. In addition to her busy performing schedule, Ms. Young currently teaches viola and chamber music at Baltimore School for the Arts, and Goucher College, violin and viola at Bryn Mawr School as well as maintaining a private studio.  Until 2009 Ms. Young was the string teacher at Roland Park Elementary/Middle School for ten years where she built a thriving string program. During the summers she has been on the faculties of the Baltimore String Orchestra Camp and the Bryn Mawr Summer Camp Program. When not immersed in music, Alice Young enjoys raising her back yard flock of chickens.
