The music of Dr. Liana Pailodze Harron moves between worlds, weaving together Georgian heritage and American spirit, classical tradition and contemporary innovation, the intimate and the grand. Her performances have graced Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the New World Center, and the United Nations, and her work has been praised by Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Tim Page of The Wall Street Journal as “smashingly effective.” Driven by an unending artistic curiosity, she has shared stages with artists across the full spectrum, from rock icon Steven Tyler to the foremost classical virtuosos of our time, and has performed as soloist with orchestras including the Georgian Television Orchestra, the Shilakadze Chamber Orchestra, and the Frost Symphony Orchestra, consistently championing new and contemporary work.
Her discography spans five albums and a growing collection of singles that reflect the full range of her artistic vision. Light-Year is an intimate, cinematic journey through the works of Ólafur Arnalds, Max Richter, Philip Glass, and others, a deeply personal statement rendered in sound. Vesna Duo Presents: The Rite of Spring presents Stravinsky’s complete ballet performed entirely from memory, a rare and remarkable achievement in the concert world. Mysteries of the Macabre takes on György Ligeti’s complex, ferociously atonal operatic work, also performed and recorded from memory. Kartli: Stories of Georgia unearths and celebrates compositions from her homeland, bringing them to audiences across the globe for the first time. And her latest release, Poptimism, crosses into entirely new territory as a bold, playful EP of reimagined covers spanning Sting, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and beyond. Her recordings have been recognized by The Wall Street Journal, NPR, UK Reader’s Digest, Billboard Georgia, and others.
Dr. Harron serves as Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she brings the same curiosity and commitment to the next generation that has defined her own career. A doctoral graduate of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, she was recently appointed Cultural Ambassador for the Georgian Heritage Foundation, a role that feels less like a new title and more like a natural next step, formally recognizing a mission she has always lived: building bridges between Georgian musical heritage and audiences around the world.
