UMBC welcomes Pro Musica Rara, Baltimore’s premiere early music ensemble, to Linehan Concert Hall for a special engagement.

Guest artist Ryland Angel, countertenor (pictured) joins the Pro Musica Rara baroque ensemble — Greg MulliganCynthia RobertsIvan Stefanovic, violin; Sharon Pineo Myer, viola; Allen Whear, cello; and Adam Pearl, harpsichord — in a program featuring:

  • Bach: Italian Concerto, BWV 971 (in a new arrangement for two violins and strings, United States premiere); Arias for alto
  • Vivaldi: Arias for Alto from Stabat Mater; Concerto for two violins from L’estro armonico; Concerto in C Major for Strings

Pro Musica Rara, Baltimore’s premiere early music ensemble, is a period instrument chamber music ensemble that performs baroque, classical, and early romantic repertoire. Founded in 1974, its musicians include Baltimore area professionals, early music specialists from throughout the eastern seaboard and world-renown guest artists. PMR presents an annual subscription series and offers pre-concert lectures, master classes, and open dress rehearsals for students. In recent years, the ensemble has performed at the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore Museum of Art, Peabody Conservatory, and the National Gallery in Washington, D.C.

General admission is $30, with discount student tickets available for $10. Tickets are available herethrough Pro Musica Rara, and will also be available at the door.


Directions and parking information
UMBC is located about 10 minutes south of the Inner Harbor along I-95. For this event, free visitor parking is available in Lot 8, directly adjacent to the Performing Arts and Humanities Building, where Linehan Concert Hall is located — please see here for additional information.
