Seats are still available in UMBC's Gamelan Ensemble

Gamelan is a gong-chime orchestra native to the Indonesian archipelago and is up largely made up of bonze percussion instruments but can also include drums, xylophones, bamboo flutes, and plucked string instruments. This course is a performance class in Central Javanese gamelan and Balinese gamelan angklung in which students will learn performance techniques, theory, compositions, cultural context, and participate in a performance at the end of the semester. Absolutely no experience is required to join!
