Deborah Allen is an active accompanist and piano teacher residing in Howard County, Maryland. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Maryland in College Park, where she studied with Thomas Schumacher. During her time there, she won the graduate school division of the Homer Ulrich Piano Competition. Ms. Allen is a gifted collaborative pianist, as evidenced by her many years of accompanying vocal, instrumental and chamber music recitals, as well as choral groups, church services and musical theatre productions.
She is staff pianist at both UMBC and Howard Community College, where she performs with both students and faculty members. In addition, she works with some of the most well-respected teachers in the area, accompanying many talented young musicians in competitions and recitals. She has performed in Charlestown Retirement Community’s Concert Series and regularly performs in the summer sessions of Little Patuxent Opera Institute at Howard Community College. When not playing the piano, Ms. Allen enjoys teaching and maintains a private piano studio made up of students representing all age groups.
