Mr. Randall Riffle

MSgt. Randall Riffle’s served for 25 years as a clarinetist in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. During his tenure, he participated in 7 presidential inaugurations, 17 national concert tours and numerous diplomatic arrivals for the Pentagon, State Department and White House in addition to concerts in Washington, DC and funerals at Arlington Cemetery. Before retiring in 2013, he appeared with the band on several occasions as a featured soloist. Concurrent with his duties in the Marine Band, Riffle has been an avid educator and performer throughout the region. Shortly after joining the band he began teaching music at Landon, a private school in Bethesda, Maryland, and served as principal clarinet with the Landon Symphonette, an orchestra dedicated to providing opportunities for talented high school and college musicians to experience music in a setting alongside professional musicians.

Riffle began his formal music instruction as a scholarship student at the Ohio State University where he received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in clarinet performance.  While working on his undergraduate degree at OSU he taught clarinet and saxophone at Brookpark and Park Street Middle Schools in Grove City, the town where he had attended high school. He was appointed principal clarinet of the Central Ohio Symphony in Delaware, Ohio, a post he held until winning the position with “The Presidents Own.” Throughout his career Riffle has been actively involved with church music, and he currently serves as the orchestra and choir director of Heritage Community Church in Severn, Maryland.
