Description

In a program entitled “Balderdash,” the percussion quartet Umbilicus will perform works by Will Redman, Tom Goldstein, Jennifer Walshe and others, including:

  • Burners: End to End by Will Redman
  • Deck by Will Redman
  • Evergreen by Tom Goldstein
  • A new work (premiere) by Tom Goldstein
  • THIS IS WHY PEOPLE O.D. ON PILLS/AND JUMP FROM THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE by Jennifer Walshe

Umbilicus was founded in 2012 as a reaction to the generic contemporary percussion quartet, intending to promote and perform a more experimental repertoire, much if it composed by its
members. It consists of three UMBC alumni — Paul Neidhardt, Michelle Purdy, Will Redman — and UMBC faculty member Tom Goldstein. The name Umbilicus contains the letters U M B C.

$15 general admission, $10 seniors, $5 students, free for UMBC music majors and music faculty/staff, available online or at the box office one hour prior to the performance.
