The Department of Music presents euphonium soloist Jermaine Fryer ’17, music, in a unique behind-the-scenes experience in the creation of his new recording Tickets to the Zoo — attend a live recording session featuring works by Kriesler, Casals, Saint-Saëns, and Szentpali. 

Jermaine Fryer is an established performer, conductor, and educator throughout the Washington D.C. metro area. A low brass specialist and conductor, Fryer performs euphonium, trombone, and tuba in both classical and jazz settings, performing  as a euphonium soloist and band member with the Fort Washington Symphonic Winds, University of Maryland Community Band, University of Maryland Wind Orchestra, Category 5 Wind Ensemble, and the UMBC Brass Quintet. He has conducted the University of Maryland Brass Ensemble, the UMBC Wind Ensemble, and the UMBC Symphony Orchestra as assistant conductor. 

Fryer studied euphonium with Elizabeth Palmer, Steve Kellner, and Brian Kaufman and bass trombone with Patrick Crossland. He received his B.A. in Euphonium Performance from UMBC and is currently attending the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, completing dual master’s degrees in performance and music education with an emphasis in wind conducting. As an educator, he is a sought after clinician low brass instruments and his activities as an educator encompass private lessons, low brass clinics for public school students, and leading college and K-12 wind ensemble sectionals.

UMBC is located about 10 minutes south of the Inner Harbor along I-95. For this event, free visitor parking is available in Lot 8, directly adjacent to the Performing Arts and Humanities Building, where the entrance to the Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall is located on the second floor.
